I know many of you are IT professionals and programmers, but IMO for a non-tech, mainstream user, the Tonido UI could really be improved.

As a general guideline, any time a UI gives you a referral to a tutorial or a chapter in the manual, it's a fail.
A perfect example: My Shared Files page > "Mount as a drive" link.
Clicking the link, instead of what a user expects, i.e. "mounting a drive", it sends him/her to a tutorial.
how hard it would be to generate a working link instead?
(mac example) smb://[TP ip]/[share name]/

Another example:
I'm already logged in to Tonido, so why do I have to login again to the TP Admin panel?
And why does it show "root" as user name?

Now, I'm sure you can give me a perfectly good explanation of any of this,
that's not the point though. These are all unnecesarry steps for the end user.

and the extra long webshare links...

Please don't take it as trashing your product, I really love my TP2.
Would love to see it go mainstream, like dropbox.

thanks for the feedback.
We are always looking to improve. Recently, the documentation was completely overhauled, so it broke some links, the next update will fix those.

another example of user unfriendliness:

Adding Favorites. Why do I have to put them in a subfolder?
Why I can't place them at the Favorite root?

Before a new user has an actual need to organize Favs into subfolder,
s/he needs to have a fast access to the most important ones, meaning direct access, not through a subfolder structure.

I think, the UI is designed with only an advanced user in mind, making simple tasks more difficult then necessary.

Bump to reiterate that the product is beginning to reach a mainstream audience, but is not end user ready from a UI or communications standpoint.

I too, would love to see the product be successful, but I am pulling my hair out at home right now trying to figure the thing out via the available documentation and forum answers.

Although I understand meta-language specific to industries, I think there needs to be a translator involved somewhere along the way.

Assuredly, if 99% of folks here stepped into my "backyard" industry and I immediately started in with technical jargon about how to properly handle a vehicle at speed, there would be an overwhelming sense of tension, if not panic.

Empathy is the key. :)

Either way, I am pushing forward, and I'm going to figure this out with y'all.

Bumping post to reiterate that we need help, but are also willing TO help.

We are aware of it, thanks for the input. A new Web user interface is on the way hopefully that will help.
