Last year I reported a bug that Tonido doesn't attempt to load files (ex: play mp3) where there are three dots in the file name. I was told this:

For security, the HTTP APIs reject any calls with file paths with ".." in them, irrespective of whether the files are actually present in that location or not. This is to avoid issues where someone gets access to files using relative paths like "..\..\..\somefile"

I noticed lately, having three dots in a file name or folder works now. Was this changed?

My main question though is I also have problems with ampersands ("&") and apostrophes in the folder or file name. The apostrophe is only a problem when it is at the end of a word like "Takin' Care of Business.mp3", but works fine when the apostrophe is in the middle of a word like "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet.mp3". Is this a bug?

Is the ampersand issue a bug or something we have to live with?

Thanks for a great product!!
Scott

We found a way to avoid the problem with multiple .. inside. We weren't aware of the apostrophe issue. We will check.

Thanks!

What about the ampersand issue? I'm just wondering if I need to remove the ampersands from all my file names.

Thanks!

We are checking this issue. Can you tell us OS, browser or anymore specifics?

Ah, good question! This seems to be iOS-specific. The music tracks play fine with apostrophe's and ampersands when played through a web browser but will not play on my iPhone.

And I just noticed a nice clue for you. The file name shows like this "Jack&Diane.mp3" when the file is actually with spaces: "Jack & Diane.mp3". The same with the apostrophe at the end of a word: "Takin'Care Of Business.mp3" is actually stored as "Takin' Care Of Business.mp3".

So on iOS devices, something in the code must be removing the spaces when it hits one of these characters and then the filename can't be found so it won't play it. Does that make sense?

Thanks for your attention on this!

OK, that makes more sense. We are aware of this issue on iOS. This will be fixed.
