do I need to stop tonido before shut down my linux lubuntu ?

Hi all
I am wondering is it necessary to first stop tonido before shut down of my Lubuntu? And if yes, how?

You don't need to do it.
If you ever need to shutdown tonido, you can right click on tonido icon and hit exit.

Actually, on Lubuntu 12.04 its there :-)

Just did not see it.

But on ubuntu 12.04 with unity I can't see any icon. Is there a trick? And would it also work on gnome 3 ?

Unity broke Gnome Notifications, so you don't get that unfortunately.
