I only discovered Tonido two days ago, and I already think I'm in love with it - but...

I first downloaded/installed Tonido on my laptop (Win7 Home Premium) - and have succesfully managed to set that all up (just downloading the app for my Blackberry now) - but my laptop is not my "HUB" - the computer I'm writing this on is - and I want to run Tonido "for real" on this computer, since all my data volumes are on here.

I just hope that it's nothing to do with me/the computer running Windows 2000.

First off, the install runs fine - with no errors or issues to report.

But (straight away) the quick launch icon returns "Unable to start Tonido!"

launcher.exe & tonido.exe (in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Tonido ) return the same.

I turned off my firewall(s) - and even tried to run tonidofirewallconfig.exe - but that doesn't appear to do anything (?)

I enabled cookies (Firefox) - I don't have any other browsers currently installed.

I searched on here, and found a solution proposing to swap 10001 to 20001 in the configex.xml file, so I did that - still no change - same error.

Attached is my log file, fresh from an re-install (that's continuing to return the error) - I suspect it has something to do with :

21:31:33:640 [1] [AppStarter]:E: Library Load Exception: core.dll:Cannot load library

but don't really know how to interpret that much further - hopefully someone here might be able to point me toward/assist me with a fix. I so dearly hope so - I really really want Tonido to work. :D

Tonido loads some modules dynamically and one such module is core.dll. For whatever reason, something has stopped Tonido from loading core.dll.

The log doesn't tell us what though and my first suspicion is some kind of overzealous antivirus or anti-malware. Can you disable those and try?

As far as I can tell, all firewalls and other such utilties are turned off. :?

I've had "can't load dynamic link library" issues before (on this machine) - so I'll do some fishing around there to see if something's amiss with my windows.

If you search this forum, you will see another report of the same issue although on a weird configuration, so that may or may not help.

Maybe your Windows Update was installed partially at some point?

Thanks for your replies Madhan, I've had a read of threads here that mention core.dll not loading, and note this one saw you make available an older build of the installer... as I've seemingly tried everything (save a windows re-install - I've my disc at the ready) I don't suppose I could also give that solution a try?

As replied via pm, the install has worked - I've just logged onto my "new" account (created on my "HUB" computer) via my laptop. Happy days!

The thing is now, I've two questions, which could warrant their own threads entirely (and have probably been covered by others already) but, they're questions all the same.

1. The Tonido frontend on the "old" build install I've just made is, perhaps obviously, reporting updates to install. Now I'm weary of clicking them, scared I might open myself up to the issues that prompted this thread in the first place. If I were to, and the problems did return - could I uninstall Tonido, and re-install the "old" build .exe and still retain / be able to regain access to my account I've just created? If not, I'm inclined to leave it alone... except :

2. I note under Settings>Misc there isn't (in the "old" build GUI) an option to "Enable access to only selected Folders" as there is in the most current build (as is on my laptop). Was this a feature added later? Were I to want to do the same, I imagine I might need to run the risk of Tonido failing to start and do the updates, yes? Or is there another way? Perhaps to cleverly employ the filter somehow?

It seems quite worrying have my entire computer "exposed" in such a way.

Most likely the new build won't work on your system for whatever unknown reason.
Yes, those features were added after the build I gave you.
