Help!!

I have been using Tonido Desktop at home personally for about 7/8 months now, quite happily and even have Tonido Pro now. Still more to learn about it though!

I started a new job back in mid September 2011 and one of my tasks asked, was could we have some sort of system where our employees could log in, to download their Payslip's and any other documents they may need access too, with each employee having their own folder to access and no body else's folder.

Not being a website or database programmer I thought whether Tonido would work. Well it has been working, kind of, since late October, but have noticed recently that the Tonido Desktop software and system tray icon just "stops" and you can not remote in via the web browser.

If I remote in (using LogMeIn, though maybe going over to TeamViewer), and double click the Tonido icon on the desktop, the system tray icon comes back, as grey to start off, then orange and then we are back up and running, until the next time.

NB: When Tonido is running, there are no issues of anyone logging in and downloading a file, etc.

There seems to be, from what I can see, no pattern, when it turns off; i.e. every 48hrs, or days, etc,... just seems to be random.

I have tried search the Support pages and I have not come up with any thing close to my situation. But if any does see any thing, I would be grateful for a web link.

Any thoughts? Last resort would be to uninstall and re-install, but bit worried about may lose my Tonido settings, etc.
TONIDO INFO: v2.35.0.16173, have attached a log file; standard installation; Enable Relay = Yes; Enable Remote Web Access = Yes; HTTP Port = default; Enable Network = Yes, with default settings.

PC INFO: Windows Vista Business 32bit, 4GB RAM, 2x HDD's = 1x 160GB for OS and 1x 500GB for Data.

Thanks in advance for any advice! ;)

This looks like some kind of network issue:

Quote:
layService]:T: === Connecting to Relay
16:19:42:629 [13] [CoreRelayService]:E: Tonido::Core::tunnel_client_local::startException connecting to server: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond
16:19:42:629 [13] [CoreRelayService]:T: === Out of Relay Run ===

Tonido is turning off because it is failing to connect and stay connected. In those conditions instead of repeatedly trying to connect and failing, it disables itself.

Are you based in Europe?
We have had a couple of network outages that could have caused this issue?
Is this problem repeatable? How often has this occurred?

Thanks for your reply, so quickly! Just about to leave work soon.

Yes, based in Europe, actually in UK, England. Broadband service is with BT.

We have had the "odd" BB service outage, but not that often, or failing that, it has been happening when its after office hours.

Is there anything we/I can tell Tonido to not disable, though may sound strange request?

Strange as it may seem, does your network go to "sleep" after office hours? Does a firewall kick in after hours?

How repeatable is this? There is no switch you can configure unfortunately, we will have to make our software keep retrying under these failure conditions which in general is not a good thing.

Hi Madhan,

Thanks again for your quick reply.

I will have to check the router, which is supplied by the ISP, BT, about any sleep settings.

We do have a 48x port Switch, but I will have to check whether it's Managed ro un-managed, should that make a difference.

And, the PC itself, I know I have disabled or turned to 'Never', for any sleep or Hibernate settings.

When I back in the office tomorrow AM, I check this out more-or-less straight away - after I have made my cup of tea first!! lol

Hi Madhan,

Sorry the late update, since Monday's posting - been a couple of office equipment issues in the office here; Sharp MFD (Multifunction Device) went down, colour laser printer started having smoke come out of it... oh dear!

On top of that, and other stuff, I had been looking into our network hardware with regards to our Switch and Router and their power saving options, if any.

Our Switch is from PCI Giga switch and it's unmanaged and has no configurable options on there at all, apart from a physical on and off switch.

Our Router, a ISP supplied BT Business Hub/Router, I have logged in as Admin and there are no configurable power saving options, from I could see. Though I have, only yesterday, contacted BT to ask further questions about this type of router, or the White Paper in PDF format.

So, at the moment, from our previous chats, it seems like for some reason, our broadband line, on odd moments after office hours, must drop out.... weird!

Any other thoughts or suggestions... anyone?
