I just installed and setup Tonido - and it looks great!
Only problem is that when I access files through it - they download as read-only files so I can't make changes? I tried saving the file to my local desktop and then uploading it back into Tonido (with the same name) and it does not update the file? However, I can upload new files easily.

How do I make changes to the files (i.e. remove the 'read-only')??

Tonido doesn't allow you to upload files if the same file exists. It is ignored silently.
You can install Tonido Sync and synchronize your edited files or install Tonido Drive (which needs Tonido Pro)

I have tonido sync and I placed a few files in the sync folder - but how do I edit the files?

In one computer you install Tonido Server (along with Sync) extension.
In the remote computer you install Tonido Sync Client.
Whatever you place in the remote computer's sync folder gets synchronized to the Server computer. So there is a copy in your remote computer and in the Server.
