Hello,

I did search the forums for this problem first and didn't find a similar problem:

Here's my situation:
1) I have a static IP address issued from Comcast (small business): 173.14.14.166
2) That comes in to a Comcast router that then sends out: 10.1.10.16 to...
3) My Linksys WRT54G wireless router that I have all the house computers attached to either via ethernet or wireless. - The ip range here is the standard 192.168.1.*
4) When I initially set up Tonido, I attached it to the Linksys. It took the IP 192.168.1.106
5) When I tried to set up my external URL: http://modernmi.tonidoid.com:10001, it wouldn't work.
6) I manually port forwarded, still no luck.
7) Finally in desperation, I tried DynDNS, it would work with a DynDNS URL.
8) Decided to set Tonido up directly to the Comcast router.
9) Set it up successfully with IP address: 10.1.10.172...
10) Port forwarded on the Comcast router, no luck as well.
When on either router, I can see Tonido at either 192.168.1.106:10001 (Linksys) or 10.1.10.172:10001 (Comcast).
*Note: both of these addresses were issued via DHCP on both routers... Is that my problem? Do I need to set a static IP to Tonido?

Thanks in advance.

- C

P.S. Additional note: When I set up the manual port forwarding and then go back to Tonido to check the URL, it says the URL is available and everything is fine.
P.P.S. One more additional note: If I go to just http://modernmi.tonidoid.com without the :10001, it resolves to the Comcast router GUI, so the DNS is "partially" working?
P.P.S. This is running on a TonidoPlug

You have a very similar setup to mine. I connect my Belkin Wireless router to the UVERSE router. As your incoming request goes through 2 sets of router, you will have to port forward at 2 places.

If you have attached your TonidoPlug to your LinkSys router do the following:
Step 1: Port forward 10001 from your Comcast Router to your LinkSys Router. So, in your Comcast router setting, set port forwarding using the IP address of the LinkSys router.
Step 2: Port forward 10001 from your LinkSys router to your TonidoPlug IP

So, when a request comes through port 10001, the request is forwarded from your Comcast router to your Linksys router and then to your TonidoPlug.

Thanks for the reply.

This makes so much sense I feel stupid.

I will try it now.

Okay,

Here's what I've got:
Comcast router:
Public port range:
10001
Private port range:
10001 ~ 10001
Protocol:
both
IP Address:
10.1.10.16 (IP address assigned via DHCP to Linksys wireless router)

Linksys router:
start port range:
10001
end port range:
10001
Protocol:
both
IP Address:
192.168.1.106 (IP address assigned to TonidoPlug)

Tonido:
Private URL:
http://192.168.1.106:10001
Tonido Web Access:
All, port forwarded
Tonido network:
Enabled, remote access is on

and yet I STILL can't get http://modernmi.tonidoid.com:10001 to resolve to the Tonidio GUI. - All I get is: "Unable to connect... - can't establish a connection" in the browser.

When I try: http://173.14.14.166:10001/ - it doesn't work as well. - Shouldn't my static IP address from Comcast resolve with the 10001 port forwarding?

What could possibly be going on?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. Once again, inside Tonido, it indicates the URL is available when I test. In addition, when I type either: http://modernmi.tonidoid.com or http://173.14.14.166 (without the ":10001") they both present me with the Comcast router GUI, so it makes me think that the DNS is partially working, because it is at least getting me to the Comcast router GUI, correct?

P.P.S. One other weird thing: I can ping the TonidoPlug from my Mac (at 192.168.1.106), but it is the ONLY COMPUTER on my network that doesn't show up in the Linksys DHCP Clients table... shouldn't it be listed there? - All the other computers attached show up in that table.

I am able to access your Tonido, no problems.
When I type "http://modernmi.tonidoid.com:10001/ui/core/index.html" in the browser, it takes me to your login screen.

Where are you trying to access your tonido from? From inside your house?
Some routers wont allow access to itself with public IP address. However, you can access it from outside your home(I am able to access your site).

So inside your house the only way to access tonido is to use local IP address.

Not sure if this helps, but I'm on Comcast and I can see modernmi.tonidoid.com:10001 (I get to the login screen).

As for using the tonidoid.com address from inside my private network, it works for me (and again, I'm on Comcast). As a matter of fact, I use the tonidoid.com address from other computers in my house more than I use the private network IP.

Thanks for testing that guys - I hadn't thought that that was what might be going on. - I've probably got some setting on one of my routers that is not allowing me to do the loop back.

I called my brother in Boston and had him check it - and he too could see the login, and when I gave him all the credentials, he was able to log in to the system.

Thanks again for the troubleshooting.
