Is there a way to change the default browser used when Tonido is started on Ubuntu? I'm running Tonido on Kubuntu 9.04, and everything seems to be going reasonably well so far with one minor problem. When I start Tonido, it begins a Konqueror session to login, but once I login, everything I attempt generates an Uncaught GWT Exception. The only solution is to close Konqueror and open http://127.0.0.1:10001 in Firefox after I login. I would prefer that Tonido begin with opening a Firefox tab or window, although it would also be nice if the error didn't occur in Konqueror. Can anyone tell me how to change the default browser used so that I can get around this annoyance? Thanks.

Though I haven't worked with kubuntu before here is how I change my default browser in ubuntu

1) Run the following command to start preference configurator.
Code:
 sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-browser

2) You will get an output like this. Change the default browser to firefox.
Code:
There are 2 alternatives which provide `x-www-browser’.

Selection Alternative
———————————————–
 * 1 /usr/bin/konqueror
   2 /usr/bin/firefox

Press enter to keep the default[*], or type selection number: 2

Hope this helps

I have set Firefox as my default browser through alternatives, and when I select a URL in most applications, it is opened in a new Firefox tab. But there are a few applications that don't seem to use the selected x-www-browser. For example, Dolphin, the new KDE file manager, uses Konqueror for viewing selected html files and help pages for some applications are opened in Konqueror. Tonido is another application that apparently does not use the selected alternative, but uses some other mechanism for starting a browser.

We use xdg-open url command to open the browser. This is supposed to use the default browser.

Thanks. After learning that I was able to change the default browser in the KDE System Settings application and get Tonido to open in Firefox the way I wanted. You may still want to look into why there is an uncaught exception when using Konqueror, but I don't need to worry about it now.

Thanks for the info. The uncaught exception is probably because we don't support Konqueror. Tonido has never been run or tested with that browser.
